But First, A Message from D. Ray

I can’t tell you how happy I am that award winning writer E.L. Dubois accepted my invitation to write a guest blog.

Did I mention she’s an award winning writer?

E.L. is one of my favorite authors. And a fellow Southerner.

She even says “sit a spell.”

And, if I haven’t mentioned it, she’s an award winning writer.

Her new book, The Glass Mask: Monsters Lurk Beneath, has received glowing reviews from some of the best literary critics in the world.

The First Time I Fell In Love With A Character

E.L. Dubois

I have heard other authors say they fell in love with one of their characters. Or they love writing a character because it was their favorite. I never really understood that sentiment until I started writing NOLA Bound the second book in my Ransom TX series.

Yes I have known the characters I have written. My first novel was a memoir written as a dark fairytale so I knew every one of those characters very well. But that book was a healing process. I felt I needed to write The Glass Mask: Monsters Lurk Beneath, and just walk away from the story. My proverbial mic drop if you will.

I wanted what I had endured to be heard but it was torture for me to relive what I had been through.

With Ransom, I originally wrote it fifteen years ago so that felt like a visit to old friends.

It wasn’t until I introduced a few new characters that I finally got what other authors meant when they said they fell in love with a character or had a favorite.

My next book takes place in New Orleans. I absolutely love New Orleans and the culture of the entire city. The essence of the French Quarter is something I hope I am able to capture for the reader.

So naturally I had to pay homage to the Crescent City by introducing a character that embodies the fun and magical feeling of such a marvelous place.

It is that character that holds a special place in my heart and has become my favorite.

In 2019 I plan to share him with the world. I hope the readers fall head over heels in love with the good looking, hilarious, loveable Couyon that has stolen my heart for now!

Much love and appreciation

E.L. DuBois

She’s great, isn’t she?

Here are links to all of her wonderful books:

A beautiful, naïve young woman with fairy-tale dreams… And a beast of a man who only finds pleasure in the vicious acts he commits.

A poetry accompaniment to “The Glass Mask: Monsters Lurk Beneath”. Step inside the minds of the real Beauty and Knight with these specially selected works.

The devil went down to Texas. Big mistake! Yesterday, James “Cowboy” Stone was Ransom’s golden boy, a football god. Today, he’s their savior, a warrior in a destiny he never expected.

About D. Ray Thomas

Welcome to my bio that is perfect for a promotion packet both in length and content. From here on out I will speak of myself in the 3rd person.

D. Ray Thomas has written for most of his life and is now living his dream by writing the Take It Back stories. The series features part Robin Hood, part vigilante, Douglas Gage.

Ray’s love for the written word has shown itself in various forms. From years of performing his own material as a standup comic, to writing for television, and to ultimately writing stories in his favorite genre.

And, I won, this is kind of a big deal, I won, I mean, uh, Ray is a Daytime Emmy winner.

You can have an informed conversation with Ray about Broadway Musicals as well as all things baseball.

Ray now resides in Los Angeles, CA with his wife in a house run by their six cats. He hopes you enjoy reading his books as much as he does writing them.
